The move of Medical Field as a Butcher Shop

For all Indian's January 26 is holiday as we celebrate our Republic Day. But how many of you know the difference between Republic Day and Independence Day which is celebrated on August 15?

Lets take a look into the few lines from wiki :

Republic Day commemorates the date on which the Constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India on 26 January 1950.

Independence Day commemorate its independence from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation in 1947.

So in the eve of Republic day, let me share some of my concerns of the way medical field is moving.

You would have noticed almost all guys and gals are moving to either Engineering or Medical fields. An engineer has his own responsibilities, to the society to be respected as an Engineer.

The doctors are the most respected people in the society. What we currently see is the humanity is lost, they work only for money. The responsibility of a doctor is to save a life, and he knows how to do it, ie what he learned. He should have a social commitment towards the society.

The hospitals are moving as a Butcher shops, they utilize the patient and get a huge amount and finally kill them. The transparency is lost and many people have lost their trust in hospitals and doctors.

When a person is in ICU, entering the room is prohibited. Yes, I agree that there is high chance of infections to happen. But our technology has grown, why not show the live view what's is happening inside the ICU to the near and dear ones ?

Criteria to study for medicine and to open a Hospital should be looked again

1 ) Social works should be promoted from School itself

2 ) The competition for Marks should be discouraged

3 ) Encourage Humanity and let the children know the heart , ear , nose , blood all are same in all Humans whether its Muslim , Sikh, Christian , Hindu or any . All are born naked and one day will die and become ash. Life is too short, then why the fight for caste and religion.

4 ) Educational institutions should not be promoted as a profit making shop .
The rise of problem starts here, everyone will take a loan, and finally to pay, they will not look what is right or what is wrong.
5 ) Government should take strict action against the Education and Medical field. There should be a way to know how many life's have been alive after spending huge amount in the hospital .
6 ) Remove the role of entrance and give priority to the marks the student gain and what all social things the child and family has done. If their eyes are only on profit making let them not enter to medical field . Its all about life .

We have been learning and gaining knowledge about different things. Then why still going behind the odd things ? Recently Ciby one of my friend at Bridge send a picture via email. I feel that is really good to apply at many places. Enjoy the picture, think and learn , comments are always welcome ! . Not sure from where he got else I would have given the credits to the author .

Please learn the value of Human , life is too short don't make a chance to regret . Jai Hind !

A talk on Dowry

At Bridge we work with different people from different countries. Sometimes the arrange marriage concept itself is a Weird one for them. Many foreign people wonders how you are getting married to a person whom you just spend some minutes or hours :-) .

Recently Soraja was mentioning that its Girls who must get the Dowry for they are cooking , getting pregnant etc. I agreed with her and was supporting her. I also mentioned that in our home town, we don't used to ask anything regarding it . But its towards some places that the girls family mentions how much they are giving to a girl. And they give a fixed tag price for the girl . So it has nothing to do with boys.
But at some-point I was telling her , why I think the Boy is getting Dowry from the girls parents .

Thoughts are
1 ) You want to look her till death.
2 ) Bring up the kids .

This made the talk go funny :-) , we really enjoyed the discussion with Lekha , Marco and all ( Just to name some ) . Thanks Bridgy's for the greatest participation.

Friends, Love and Life

Friends will be the most important people in our life. We learn, teach, share each and every bits of information. If the person is so smart / cute and is of opposite gender, there will be always a tendency to be part of your life. You may never know when you are falling in Love with them. For a while you may even forget about your family, your caste / religion and sometimes fall deep into it.
Love is the most memorable one in everyone's life. Everyone loves to be loved. The love in the sense changes from person to person . Your love for your parents, sister , friends, kids, all will be different. Your love for your partner will be something really different.
We all are born as Humans, we call our selves as a social animals. We mingle with people , we make friends with whom we met . When we get closer we may love to get married to them. But then comes the culprit of Caste / Religion . If you / your family have ever thought / asked of Caste / Religion and is the hindrance for love ?

How long can you go ?

We have been learning and getting a degree , but never becoming a Human ? Does our education really teaches what a Human is ? Or are we competing for something and loosing our own life ?

Love is the most beautiful thing to Happen. If you are damn sure that you don't want to happen, then skip it before you start loving. The impact of love is hard than not getting loved. Building a relation is hard and breaking it ( if its pure love , not just fun ) even harder , you may even kill yourself ( Never do it , ie not a formula to solve anything , you are running into more danger ) .
Don't be a reason to break it , convincing your loved once to become a Human will help you to be part of them. After all its you and he/she must live a long life. The support of the family is always needed . We cannot predict what will happen in the coming years. Our society must change our views of getting married to different caste / Religion . I don't want to point to anyone , but some people are tightly binded by blind phenomena . They don't have a brain to think even they got a degree. They never know their ancestors and they fear life after death and how the cremation is done. Live when you are alive rather than thinking those fucking phenomenon. Your life is to be enjoyed when you are in this beautiful world. Do the good things here, and do the rest where ever you go / believe .

Someone shared me some information from a book. I don't remember exactly the name of the book, may be at some-point I will update it . "Every men thinks about sex in a minimum interval of 15 minutes." I am not sure how much correct it is and also mentions "Wife should forgive for the sins of Husband if he go for extra martial affair for the way Men and Women look into sex is different. One give the soul and one for the pleasure , the impact of women is more than men".

Note : These are just random thoughts of Hari ( yes that's me :P ), or may be can say mad thoughts :-)

A Year of 2011

Looking back is always good. So I was looking Facebook to remember the beautiful year 2011, what all good / bad things happened in my Life.
January :
I started my work with SandBlue Technologoies Pvt Ltd, at Technopark , Trivandrum . I started digging Lithium, a light weight PHP 5.3 framework ( commonly known as li3 ) more seriously.
Met some of my friends at CUIET in Jan 8th .
I wrote some post on local search for the li3_docs with Zend_Search_Lucene . I became more interested on x-data branch and started looking at it often .
February :
I added more examples to the documentation in the code looking through the test cases http://dev.lithify.me/forks/harikt/lithium/commits . But I don't think those got merged for I never gave a pull request as I was unaware what to do :-( . Yes some sort of things was missing , like a mail group. The only way to communicate was to hang on freenode at #li3, but as timezones differs it really matters. Nate Abele, Gwoo , @nperson etc was keen enough to help me a lot. So a big Thanks to them . Created a linked in group for #li3 . Wondered if its needed or just sphere http://is.gd/eJhbM6 , though sphere was not launched at the time.
March :
Started looking though Symfony2. On 5 th, 12:30 AM - 1:30 AM IST attended the webinar on #li3 by @nateabele . Blogged about Relationship matters in #li3 ? , Adding HTML Purifier Library in Lithium . Finally Lithium officially moved to github, which I really loved .
Around the middle I moved from Sandblue, Technopark to Bridge India, Cochin. It was a great time to meet the awesome guys at Sandblue. Shafeek played a huge role in me from Sandblue, that doesn't mean no one else played or did anything, but he had a huge role and made me thirsty for Technology.

April :

Working with people at Bridge was awesome. We played cricket tournaments , discusses about Wordpress and Drupal and lately moved Bridge website to a Drupal etc. I also went to Kaloor stadium for a T20 match with Shameer . It was voting time , and Kavya Madhavan got a Fatal error :) . She never knew she was implemented by an Interface which have a method Que :P .
May :
We had Barcamp again and met again my awesome friends at BCK 10 . My cousins Shadina and Diljith got married . We Bridgy's moved to Haneefa's marriage and after the event Bridgeys visited my home. Around March I guess I joined Aura Project for PHP google group. Aura was not a full stack framework , but a collection of packages / library / components for PHP 5.3. Discussions was awesome and I became a permanent member . Shiby P K gave us ( Bridgys ) a wonderful talk which was organized by Bridge.
June :
We all at Bridge went for a Trip to Wayanad . My friend Ranjeesh got married . My father Mr K T Velayudhan, who has been working for around 30 Years at CWRDM got retired from his service.
July :
Haneefa , Ajo and me went to coimbatore for Raveendran's marriage . I was at coimbatore for the first time and it was a nice journey by Train watching the western ghats. This gave birth to a new post In India states are like different countries. The second book Wordpress 3 ultimate security, in which I was a technical reviewer finally reached my home :-) .
August :
I started looking more into Aura code base. Went to Gavi with my cousins.
September :

The trip to Gavi and leach bite introduced different problems, still not cured :P . I missed onam celebration at Bridge India office. vps.fm sponsored me a VPS. Thank you guys for the great offer . My friends Abilash, Tejashree, Shamila and Liji mol got married . New interns joined Bridge, it was party time at Link Heights. Thank you guys for those party's .
October :
Nidhun , Faizal and me went to Justin's home and had a great time . I started to write my first article on integrating Facebook graph API with PHP for phpmaster.com .
November :
Job my client sponsored me to start learning better English with Jennifer Kumar of authentic journeys. I gave my first speech at Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode ( IIM-K ) , for the 11th Barcamp. Writing the article for phpmaster really gave me some courage to go for it and also the tips from Jennifer helped a lot. Started doing Yoga . Went to Jose Antony's marriage and met some friends and seniors who were at cuiet .
December :
I wrote a 3 blog posts
1 ) Mullaperiyar will it Burst and if it Burst
2 ) Today will never come again : A post after the get together at Calicut University Institute of Engineering and Technology ( CUIET ) , and later some fiction .
3 ) Destination Shornur a pure fiction which got more than 150 views in a week time .
Though I planned to write the 3 rd series , talking with friends about it dropped my plans. Not sure whether I will come back with it or not .
Integrating with Facebook Graph API was published on December 23rd. Yes it took a some time :( for it happened to be in Que.
Technically the year was really busy, I missed to get in touch with many of my friends. And some of them even banned me :-) . There were happiness , sorrow and many things happened in 2011 .

So to wrap up the good things are
1 ) Technical Reviewer of Packt Publishers ( 2nd Book )
2 ) Speaker at Barcamp
3 ) Integrating with Facebook Graph API for phpmaster.com , the sister concern of Sitepoint.com .
4 ) I became an organization member of Aura Project for PHP.

Destination Shornur

This post is a continuation of Today will never come again .

I am not able to concentrate on anything. Days seem to be dragging on. They are passing at a turtle's pace. I am waiting for the weekend. As days are passing I can remember only the dress colour and smile. Her face is vague now :( . I dream about meeting her each and every day. She has haunted me even in my dreams.
Tomorrow its Saturday, Shameer is accompanying me to Calicut. We have been friends for a long time, we have almost the same interests. I am happy to be with him. Jenson, as usual has already called me for this Christmas. We have been friends for a long time, after meeting him from day one at Calicut University Institute of Engineering and Technology ( CUIET ), where I did my BTech. I used to be at his home for almost all Christmases after that. But, these were not the priority. My aim is to see her again. Will I get a chance to meet her?
I planned how I can meet her. I know she gets off at Shornur, so I expect her to either board from Shornur in towards the Calicut journey or she will get down in Shornur towards the Calicut to Cochin journey.
Shameer and I started our journey towards Calicut. Intercity is completely filled from Cochin itself. We were in the 5th compartment. There is no room to keep a leg, its that much rush, yes its Christmas holidays. Time seems running too fast, yes it has reached Shornur. I have been dreaming about meeting her. Will I meet her ?
I get down at Shornur and ran towards the first compartment. I want to cover from one end to the other. I will not see those who are standing, can only see the faces who stand besides the door and windows. It seems miserable to search for her in the 18 compartments for the train will not wait till I see. As a person cannot keep a leg, I wonder how I can move forward looking for her in each compartment towards Shornur to Calicut. My luggage's are in train, I want to board at the same place else I will not be able to take my luggage. I have reached 5th compartment where I have been. The train seems to take in a few minutes, it has started giving the signal. The sound of the horn was like my mind crying loudly. I have not seen her till now, and I don't have any hope of meeting her in this trip. There is 13 more to go :( .
Train started moving I have boarded at the same compartment. Jenson is calling, and he reminds me about getting down at Parappanangadi. I am thinking about meeting her, does he know what my mind is cooking ? I have not spoken about these plans :) nor her. The train has reached Parappangadi railway station. The 5th compartment has stopped on the way towards exit. Bull shit. I am not interested in the direct exit :-) . I want to search for my love. I walked fast towards the remaining compartments which I have not looked. If she is beside the door or window on the same side as me, I can see, else there is no way even if she is there on train. The train started slowly moving , I have only covered 4 compartments. I stopped my search and I am looking the slowly moving train. The 10th compartment has passed me completely, I lost all hopes, I looked down, and took a deep breath. I turned around and started walking towards the exit. She just passes me, I raised my two hands and waved. She has noticed it, and is smiling. Oh I cannot catch the running train, its moving fast , also I remembered Jenson and the feast. I lost her , there was sorrow, but at the same time I am happy meeting her. I have some hope of meeting her by train.
Quickly I thought about the Engineering colleges near Shornur. I remembered Nehru College of Engineering where some of my friends and my past Lecturers are working. I may want to go there as if I am going to meet my friends or lecturer. My mind says she is doing Engineering. I am still not sure how I can find her in a college whose strength will be around 800 to 1000. The probability is less though, and who knows whether she is there itself or not :) .
I went to Jenson's home , they have made wonderful dishes for me :) , but my mind is interested in something , who knows how to read minds :D . We had our break fast and moved to his room. Jenson offered me Bacardi which he has bought specially for Xmas. We slowly started to drink, fried chicken is there as side dish. Now I am with my 3rd peg and I started to talk about my Love at Train. Jenson seems puzzled with my story, and he is smiling as if I am talking some jokes. I got angry and quickly finished 2 more pegs. I feel like the world is rotating around me. I cannot stand straight, I feel like I am completely out. I want to move to my home. After some time I washed my face and left his home. I had a great time with them though often my mind went towards her.
After reaching home I took a shower and with Vishnu, we went for shopping, and then lately to the Beach. I started looking towards the sea. The sky has become dark, but lots of people are still there. Kids are playing over the sand from a long distance, there seems a couple standing too close to each other. I feel though the word dating is not that much used, people seems doing it secretly :D. One of his hand has been tied towards her waist. We can see only the back side. I wished it would have been me and her ;-) .
Yes Tomorrow its Sunday, I want to plan for it, do my home works. Sorry home work in the sense what all things I want to speak and all if I met her . May be you can think as a rehearsal ;-) .
Reached railway station early, seems less people than often in Sundays. My destination is shornur, at any cost I want to see her and get in touch with her. Nothing other than anything is in my mind. I started walking from 1st compartment towards the last one. Alas there is a reservation compartment and AC which blocks further move. Train seems running too fast , it reached shornur at 5:45, I quickly get down and moved towards the stair. The stairs position was almost near the last compartments , so I want to run so quickly. I rooted near the stairs looking for her face. Some already have passed before I reached there. Almost every one has passed me, I still have not seen her. Was she in this train ? Or did I missed her ? My mind has been questioning me. Some are drinking Tea, the noise of the caterers have stopped. I slowly started moving forward, there is no hope I can meet her today, may the only idea seems I want to search the colleges near shornur. To my surprise I saw her , she was accompanied by some of her friends. I started to smile and she too noticed me. I quickly searched my pocket for the visiting card, yes its there itself .
"Hi", I introduced, she didn't spelled a hi but in return she offered a smile. Aah.... , my voice trembled , which I quickly gave a cough to get it normal and continued, What's your good name ? She looked at me as if I have asked something wrong. Why ? the question came quickly. Aaah ..m..m.. I am interested to know more about you, and offered my visiting card. With a smile she started to search something in her bag, oh seems like she is taking her visiting card :-) . I peeped at her purse, she has a lovely hands and fingers. Oh many cards, but seems she is searching something else. What is she looking that much seriously ? She would have accepted the card first, so I can keep my hands down. I am at the same postion with hands forwarded towards her. Hm oh finally she has found something. She offered it to me, looking at the back of the paper I know it seems like a photo. Hm , she is good, she has offered her snap, I started to smile slowly. I turned to look how it looks and what it is really. Its a guy. What the fuck does she offered me, my mind questioned me ? I looked at her as if I am puzzled , and to that she replied, "He is my love". A bird flew away from my head, my mouth is opened. I am lost , I cannot stand, neither speak anything, the same feeling as I am drunk. I wished if I can run away. I smiled and gave back the photo and left the place with in few seconds . Hey, She is calling me, but I didn't turned back just walked away and wondered how Destination shornur became Destination unreachable :-) .

Today will never come again

I know its 18th December 2011, we have our college Alumini get-together. It was already planned months Back. Many people are active for a long time sharing posts, pictures and videos. I was thrilled to meet my old seniors and friends and also to walk remembering my old memories of CUIET, though I have been there almost every 6 months or 1 year ;) .

Today I woke up early at 6 am as my father wants me to drop him at our new plot where the well is digging. I took my old sweater which I have bought once I went for a tour to Mysore. I remembered my old friends once again, the feelings and all was so touching. It was really cold, I would have freezed, if I would have not taken the sweater. After some works at land and going to my uncles home, I reached back around 9:15am at home. It was a 20Km ( to and fro ) ride and I was totally tired. Wondered whether I want to go for another ride ( 52 Km to and fro from my home ).So had my Bath and food started the journey. I saw some of my Juniors when I reached Calicut University. But I really wondered whether the event was at University complex or at our College CUIET( Calicut University Institute of Engineering and Technology ) which is around 1 Km away from Calicut University. ( For those who don't know about CUIET, its run by Calicut University itself, and in the huge campus :-) ) .
My bike passed the gate, I am not seeing anyone, yes the meeting was scheduled to start at 10:00 am. I am already 30 minutes late, wondered whether it was not my dream that I saw in Facebook. Do I want to check it again? Two security guys were sitting in-front of the college. Parked my bike and went near to them, no the faces are not familiar to me. Though in a hesitation I asked, Did you see some old students over here ? He told me that some are in park. Park ? I wondered. Hearing about Park for the first time from CUIET. I never have heard or know there was a Park ;) .

Yes I saw some of them talking over there. But it was not that much as 150 have said Yes we will be there in FB. Many of them have turned out from it. To be frank, I wondered if you guys really know the meaning of Yes , May Be and NO :). If you have any doubt its really good to go for May Be. Anyway I don't have any anger towards you. But on the next time, please click no, yes or may be accordingly, else good to go and sit in LKG and start learning what yes and no is :P :).

So many of them shared their wonderful experience. Even if I can comment on it, it will not be having that much fun when I/You was there ;). But some are really funny. @Brennan mentioned, that he recently came to know that he was writing an exam which he has already passed in 2007. @Zuhail have assured he will post the whole fun in Facebook. Some more fun is there, but for the time I am leaving those parts :). @Zuhail has started doing MBA, from Alagappa University in Tamilnadu. We made fun of him for the name of the college and identity card he shown :). Thanks to Mahend for the snap.

@Someone was mentioning many of the CUIET ians have got into IIT for MTech. I guess it was @Arif who asked how much is the course duration and whether they can sit for 4 years than the 2 Year course. @Vishnu mentioned they will make them pass in 2 Years itslef :). We cannot sit there even if we love :). So we made fun from it and asked whether that's how the IIT'ians become Engineers :). Sorry its all fun after all. Not anything serious :).

Brannan shared lots of interesting things. He mentioned how we can read the OPEN AIR Statdium as OPE Nair Stadium :) ( I am not adding who read it , but may be you all know ;) ) . Brannan has saved a name SI SR as the name was too long. When the phone rings DK took the phone and he told Brannan that oh man SI sir is calling . There was lots of fun over the park. Sreeraj went near a ladder and people was mentioning Snake and Ladder . Many snaps where taken with he in it. You can see over Facebook. Though there was lots of stuffs , I don't remember all, may be update later when I remember each and every.

Time will run so fast, yes though I planned to go at 12:00 or 12:30 pm, I thought of extending it. Binoj, Mahend , Gulsar, Mridul , Toby, Drishya, DK, Nikhil etc ( Sorry I cannot remember all ie why . Please add yourself in comments so I can get in touch with you guys :-) ) shared their views how we can bring more people. Currently we are just having a get-together, but may be after 10 to 15 Years we may be able to contribute something to CUIET. Yes its a long time, but it would be really wonderful to give something to our college where we are taught.

We planned to make it more memorable, by speaking some memorable thoughts, fun and of-course to resolve the sorrow happened at college days. We cannot take it throughout our life. Somethings needs to be dropped at college like fights :). We need to start fighting with our life. There is still a long way to go. We talked about whether its a good idea to change dates as there was a suggestion that June is a good time for people from abroad. But some also doubt whether there will that much participation from them ? Mahend shared his opinion of fixing on a certain sunday , like every sunday just before Christmas . Some of them including me was having the same opinion. We also talked that it was not the date that makes the problem, its the mentality that makes the problem. If they wished to come they will come to make it memorable in their life :) . Yes may be sometimes , people hate to see, some faces. Anyway I wished I would see you all again to make the day memorable.

I took some snaps from a picture gallery named Vivek Vijay's collection. We remembered Vimal C our senior who was good in drawing. He is the winner of c-zone, I wished to congratulate him, but never know him. So taking this opportunity to congratulate him.

We had Biriyani and Ice creams from Dilli Durbar. Had my food and it was 2:15pm I left CUIET. Though I loved to stay for more time, I will not catch the Intercity at 4 pm to Cochin. I reached home at 2:55pm , packed my luggage and ran to Bus stop, yes the bus was about to go. Anzil one of my neighbour and Brother of my friends ( Faizal and Noufal ) was already in Bus.

We had a chit chat and he was also moving to Trissur in same train. I was holding the Book Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture. I Wished if I would have got a seat to read it. Aaah saw her, she was talking to someone over phone. She worn a pale green churidar. Her eyes seems as if she is talking to me. I cannot take my eyes from her face. But it seems odd . Hm my mind says oh is this a reality ? Is she the girl whom I am looking for ? Anzil and me started to talk about his college and some of our old CWRDM friends. My view has been blocked by some other guys. Bull shit , hm I tried to peep, but no way its completely covered. I and Anzil shared a seat when we got a seat. Now I can see her. Is she looking ? No ? Yes :), something is happening to my mind. Where is my mind going ? She has not worn any necklace, wondered if she is some pentaclose( Sorry if this is not the real spelling :P ). I wished I was on the opposite side of the seat. Now I am on another corner. We passed the views for sometime. The train was nearing to Shornur and she took the Bag. While she is taking the bag I noticed she is having good hair and she passed beside me.

Oh she is leaving ....... hm , do I want to ask her name ? What will be the response ? hm my mind was in 2 States. Anyway I thought to stand as if I am taking Banana from my Bag to eat. I peeped towards the door when I was taking it. Yes I crossed her eyes :-). Hm something is cooking inside me. Hurrily I took, the Banana and went towards her. Oh bullshit there was already many in-front of me. She left, I cannot see her. I get down looked for her, she has walked towards the right. Do I want to go and ask ? No leave it Hari , my mind says. I walked towards the left and dropped the Banana peel on the Basket. Turned back , and to my surprise she is in-front of me. My mind was blowing like a Sun, the heart was dancing. She was coming towards me, she is smiling, oh my God :-) . I too smiled peacefully, so that the dancing of my heart will not be recognized ;). She passes me, ooops I turned around, she has passed, stop her my mind says. She is walking towards the stairs. I can still see her, I looked towards her eyes ran towards her.

Do you have sometime to talk, I asked. Wondered what's in her mind talking to a stranger. Will she wait for me ? Or I cannot go behind her , the train will not wait for me. Mullaperiyar will it Burst and if it Burst

So facebook is full with Mullaperiyar , all are concerned about their life . I happened to see a video by Tamil Nadu PWD .

As you know I am basically from Kerala , a southern state of India . I am not against giving water to Tamil Nadu , and I don't feel the people over here are also not against it . As we believe water has been got as a gift of Nature , ie why though the agreement to give water for 999 years has been renewed in 1970's , though the agreement was made in olden days of British government . As in the video if the dam was not built they will never get the water for irrigation and the water just goes to Arabian Sea . Yes we the people and the government of Kerala has given the water with out any hesitation . I believe as we the Indians and not a Tamilan , Malayalee or Bengali . We are all humans .

As everyone post on facebook , I too went through a series of disussions with my friends. In communication there happens to have some serious problems when we talk something vague. The words will be read ( recognized ) as too harsh sometimes. But yes they were mainly concerned about the life's of lakh's of people if the Dam burst . Yes I know if that happens then it will be the worst one to happen.

But as per the video , I came to know that, the dam is not just built with Suruka and stuffs, it has concrete layers also. Yes though its having around 110 Years old , as its developed by the British , we can trust it , than the one we used to build. I remember the Panchavadi Palam Movie in Malayalam.

The twist part is that all the people in Kerala and the government is concerned about the about the life's of people, though the Tamil Nadu PWD says it will not burst. I heard another news about the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant that protesters are striking against the Nuclear Power Plant for the life of people of Tamil Nadu and I heard the government is also supporting the people.

So you can see twists over here , at one point you are concerned about the life of people and at the other end no issues for the Dam. Lets think it as an Indian and not just thinking as the issue of 2 states. We are just 2 states of a big country .

I discussed with my father Mr K T Velayudhan who has been working at CWRDM for the past . According to him if the Dam breaks its not the 11 tmc Water coming from the Mullaperiyar Dam coming to Idukki Dam , which can handle upto 74.5 tmc of water . If the dam burst it contains soil , trees, and all stuffs and the pressure of the water will be so huge that , we cannot expect what will happen . Sometimes Idukki may be able to handle , if so we save some Districts , but we will loose some lifes though .

According to one of my friend, I heard that in India we don't have the way to develop such a Dam like Mullaperiyar , so we will be going for a global tender , then as the construction is handles by people outside our country there will be lots of formalities to be passed, and it will take another 20 Years to build the Dam as like our container terminal happens .

So we have two things to consider , first the life of people and also water for a living . If there is no life then, may be we never need water again ! . Lets unite and not fight and find a solution . Don't build panic among common man, else do the needful things what we can do to make the disaster less . I hope I have covered everyone's concerns . As we give water to our Neighbours in Summer and not for cash we will give you the water , but you want to recheck whether the reports of the IIT guys have some significance or is it some people trying to make some money as like the Panchavadi Palam or is the central government trying to pressurise with the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant . Don't panic guys if the Dam breaks it will be the worst and if it takes Cochin too into water , remember our Navy is here also to Wash out . Security is a concern , internet connectivity is a concern , Petroleum refinery is a concern , the after effects of it like serious diseases is another concern . So act wisely .

Revolution 2020, will India ?

So finished reading Revolution 2020. I feel its not just a story , but some of the things he needs to point out in the Indian Education and the Politics . And the change needed for it . Reminding me about the Anna Hazare's movement against corruption. I even remembered my college CUIET, AICTE and ... :-) .

Some months back, I bought a collection of books of writer Chetan Bhagat as a gift to one of my friend. But it was already in the read list . So it never went to the person :-) . As I was not a reader, I never looked into it too. Recently I was travelling back to my home town calicut by train. It takes around 4 hours journey . I found the book Two States by Chetan Bhagat on the girls opposite to me. I was not having anything to do , so borrowed the book from them and started reading. The book was so interesting , I still have the waves of Ananya.

So the first book was a great read. When I reached back at cochin I saw Revolution 2020 with my friend. So started with it, though the start 2 to 3 pages was not as interesting as Two States , or may be mind was at a different place :) .

But it was a nice read. It remembered me about the current movement against the corruption, Dr Abdul Kalam's view of India etc. It was not just a story for me . Yes two states was also having different concept . The unity of India . Yes he is good in writing , I hope people will try to understand the moral of the story.
Enjoy ! I wish the author a great success and looking forward to see more from him. Yes I want to finish the remaining ones which I have kept some where on my shelves .

Memorizing People who Influenced You : Jose Antony

Some people play a good role in your life. Yes Jose Antony was so special for me.
He has helped us ( Rijith K Nair , Jenson M John and Riju ) on our 6th semester Mini project a lot , which was done in Java.
He always have a pleasant smile in his face even though he is angry( I don't know whether there is a word to tell for him, because I never saw anything like that on his face or activity ).
When it comes to Job, he was one of the person who have guided me to the world of PHP. I still remember our days at Trivandrum for the Main project and his presence in Railway station and discussions. Yes in his busy schedule he managed to be there to make some conversation.
And many more incidents.....
So today In the eve of Jose Antony's marriage with Geethu, I wish both of them a Happy Married Life .

Working with Airtel Broad Band and a traceroute

Working with airtel broad band becoming a horror from office ( Bridge India, Palarivattom, Cochin though we have 3 connections ) and I did a traceroute for airtel broadband, with dns as open-dns and google's dns. The results are here. Was having the same issue with BSNL , so looking through the hops its easy . Thanks to Anurag Bhatia and Prajith for helping me earlier and giving suggestions.

I am wondering seeing the above image of the mtr google.com . Any idea why the IP's are split ? Seeing the same IP over and over . Is it a loop ?

In India the states are like different countries. Did you ever felt the same ?
We have different languages accross different states. ( I don't have any issue )
But I don't love the below ones :
We have different taxes accross different states.
We have different rates of bus charges accross different states .
If we are travelling from one state to other we need to pay luxury tax.
Why ? Why ?
I was at Coimbatore for one of my friends marriage. The minimum bus rate there is 2 INR. We enquired them about the rate of Petrol and Diesel. We came to know its the same then why in Kerala we want to pay a minimum charge of 4 INR ?
Its double :P .
The other one I saw was in a Beer bottle one of colleague Beau mentioned, that Beer can be sold only inside Kerala. That was really a joke for all of us. The things I saw was for the Pearson educations low price edition books only for Asian specific countries. But they also have same rate accross Asian countries and can be sold. But hm , what to say we still live in different countries in India and not in a single country India.
You may even remember the mail, which have been Forwarded by your friends. I saw a Malayali , Tamilan etc and not any Indian. Why? Its time to think and make same rate, taxes all accross India.

Yesterdays News : Police association election UDF wins

I don't used to read news papers now a days. Its mainly because I don't want to redirect my thoughts to that way.
But yesterday when I was travelling in train, I read a news in Malayala Manoram's front page the matter was "In police association election UDF wins". I was really shocked to see the post. I wonder if the police men has party then how come a case gets a light when some politicians are involved.
The politics now a days is playing very badly and its one of the root cause of India still not becoming a developed country.
According to me if some people are getting into Govt. service then he should not be involved in Politics at-least directly. The previous policy of the British government who ruled India is the best way.
Do you think we need Politics in Police ?

Filing your return to income tax with Libre office

People who knows me knows well. I am an open-source lover. Work with open-source tools, contribute to open-source and earn money from open-source.
Today I was trying to file my return to income tax department. They have some excel sheet with some macros to calculate the tax and all. I opened with my wonderful tool libre office. Things starts sucking .
Things I did was
1 ) uploaded to google docs, did all the calculations there and downloaded the excel file. The file got so many errors :P . So it sucks .
Next I tried
2 ) Opening it with the Libre Office enabling the macros and ignoring the Fucking errors occuring each time.

Tried to upload , ah they need XML . I tried to resave it as Microsoft XML doc and getting some errors .

Oh my income tax department I earn with open-source tools and if I am not able to do the returns with it , why do you want my money ? Its really a horrible fucking activity .
Hell with it guys .

Harthals and Life of common People

Sometimes I feel Harthals are good, but today I have a rethink after a conversation with Satya and also the twitter status with Rima Kallingal , Aneesh Joseph and Thomas Viruvelil . Sorry guys so that made me to rethink again :-) . I hope you will all love this suggestion .

Yesterday Satya also rephrased about "Hard work is the key to Success" with "Smart work is the key to success" . So today and from now onwards can we rephrase the harthals ?
Today's Harthal is called to Ban Endosulfan , the dangerous pesticide . For some are supporting Endosulfan too, why can't they try Endosulfan at home if needed ? I do really support this Hartal, but does that bring anything to the victims of Endosulfan? What we actually do in Hartals are stop working or force people to stop working, children enjoying Hartals, playing cricket or footballs on the roads( no grounds now :-( ) , burn some tires on roads to destroy the road. Finally all total destruction.
But today I want everyone to start working on Hartals as we do , but contribute your todays salary for the victims of Endosulfan or according to what we are supporting . Else you don't take it to your home. Can we support banning Endosulfan doing something good for the victims of Kasargod and all ? Time to think, after all common people is being effected by Hartals .

Something special to make me think about future

So today it was something special for me. The OS was a 32 bit and now is looking to move to 64 bit. It successfully completed the 26th year as a single core, so the CPU started to process applications to make it dual core now.
So I am not sure whether this is my last B'day as a Bachelor. If I am able to find a good one without memory leakage, and good processing features then the single core processor will execute it to make it dual core , may be we can say as a load balancer :) .
Just thought to write in terms of computers ;-) . So in general I am looking a beautiful lady for the post of a wife :-) .

Binayak Sen (Bengali: বিনায়ক সেন) is an Indian pediatrician, public health specialist[2] and activist accused of sedition by the Chhattisgarh Government and was later granted bail by the Supreme Court of India which dropped all charges of sedition accused by the Chhattisgarh Government against him [3]. He is the national Vice-President of the People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL). He is also one of the 2011 winners of the Bharatiya Manavata Vikas Puraskar.[4]

Binayak Sen originally started working as a doctor extending health care to poor people in the rural-tribal areas of the Chhattisgarh state, doubling up as a human rights activist. While Sen has worked with the state government on health sector reform[5] he has also strongly criticized the government on human rights violations during the anti-Naxalite operations, while advocating non-violent political engagement.[6] In May 2007, he was detained for allegedly supporting the outlawed Naxalites, thereby violating the provisions of the Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act 2005 (CSPSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.[7][8] The evidence presented against him included his meetings with the jailed Naxalite leader Narayan Sanyal and certain documents allegedly supporting his links with the Naxalites. EVDO download/upload speed at Kazhakootam, Trivandrum

I have been complaining about BSNL EVDO for a long time. Yes as a developer, we can think why the issues may be arising. When learning BTech I have never known why I was learning many subjects. It was mainly because of the poor lecturers who don't know why they are teaching nor giving a proper answer before they start the subject. We cannot blame them because they were just passed out like us. Some of their lectures may be the same. So its a deadlock there. When going that way we may want to blame the university. So lets leave that issue.
Coming back I came to know about Anurag Bhatia through a post on telecomtalk.info . So I thought of sending him some screenshots I have taken with the ping , mtr , tracroute commands ( This mails happened around exactly 1 month back ). I mailed the same to cmdbsnl at bsnl.in after he pointed to do the same. Before sending to cmdbsnl I have been calling many BSNL officers. And you can see some replies I got also. So contents of the mail I send to him was

I am attaching the screenshots of the traceroute commands. This screenshots are taken after connecting via BSNL GPRS connection in Samsung Galaxy 3 ( 3 G enabled handset , connection is not 3G ).
I also do have a BSNL EVDO. Due to the connection issues I have given to test with my friend. So once I get the device I will send you the screenshots of the same. But there is no difference. This is not just for me, but from my knowledge some of my friends who uses BSNL in Kerala is having the same issues.
It seems they have given more than the number of connections and the Bandwidth is not that much, or something else .
Let me know what you think about this. If you need to know anything more I can provide.

I got a quick reply too on the same day. Thanks to him, but it took days and weeks and never knows how to solve the issue for the BSNL officers. Yes a 20 year old guy should be in the seat of these BSNL grandfathers who don't know what to do with these data.

   1. From traceroutes it seems like connectivity with blogger is there, though latency is super super high ~3seconds!
   2. In case of 2nd screenshot - for google.com - you didn't even went out of BSNL's network and all just timed out - that's because of overloaded nodes. Here also latency was quite high.
   3. tr3 has the highest latency I had EVER seen!!!

Well, at the end it's all just about super overloaded nodes of BSNL. They really need to increase capacity in your area. Also, since it's all wireless - I guess they might be little short of spectrum causing timeouts. One of main reasons for such poor performance is almost unlimited usage plans of BSNL (without any FUP). I saw post on telecomtalk.info that BSNL is no more giving totally unlimited plans on 2G and 3G and soon will introduce FUP. If that comes up - you will see quite improvement in packet loss

It's not about bandwidth at their end. Actually most of their core network is already upgraded to stm 32 ~40Gbps links. Problem is with equipment which runs over that core network. Although 90% of their fibre pairs are lying free (dark fibres) but still core MPLS is at 90% load. Even of broadband network dataone - many start routers are overloaded - causing packet loss. In case of 3G (HSDPA & EVDO) problem gets worst due to limited last mile spectrum. To get (rough) idea if your problem is due to last mile network or core network - try getting #2nd or #3rd hop in traceroute and then ping it for like 30mins. Then observe packetloss. If that's still very high and then probably their last mile network is having congestion. If #2nd or 3rd hop ping is decent - then it's all about core MPLS of their wireless network in your State.

Since all is just purely about capacity issue at ISP end - we as end users can't do much in this. Try emailing CMD BSNL - cmdbsnl at bsnl dot co dot in with this data. They take lot of time in responding but "do" respond many times.

But the simple answer is they don't know what to do with it . Yes they have computers , but don't know how to operate . Still in kalavandi kalam in malayalam( i guess bull vehicle ). There is a huge loss of packets in the network. I have been using commands like ping , traceroute , mtr etc from my GNU / Linux system ( Also tried in Windows 7 Professional J ) .

Recently I connected to my GPRS connection ( 94005XXXXX ) via my Samsung Galaxy 3 ( 3G phone , connection is 2G itself ) . And I saw the same issue with the network. Its not just on my system, my friends having the GPRS sets with BSNL having the same issue.

I am attaching the screenshots taken after connecting to GPRS. Its having full range on the area, Date : Feb 14 , time 10:30 ( Have called customer care and reported the issue ) . The same issue is for EVDO .

I would like to get the problem fixed soon if you can.

Again called , asked me to test at technopark campus. But still I saw the same issues. So they asked me to bring the device to Pattom office Trivandrum.

Gave the device to my friend ( Prajith , working as a n/w administrator at Technopark ) to test at Pattom ( so he can get in touch with Pattom office ) . I called on 12 Feb 2011 to 0471-2101010 , ask more details about Pattom office Trivandrum , and he says its closed. And I am asked to bring the device to BSNL office near Secretariat.

So when looking through the packet loss connecting over GPRS , EVDO , my landline ( 0495-280XXXX ) at home ( with same OS , GNU / Linux , its not with OS any more as told by 0471-21010XX ) . I think its something with routing. If you need any more details I am happy to send to resolve the issue.

Note: I will not be paying anymore bills, if the issue is not fixed. There are some other numbers which have not already attended. So Thanks for those who attended and tried to resolve the issue J.

Anyway lets think as a common man, why this happens . We don't want to be an Engineer to think and check why its happening right ?

Technopark is one of the IT hubs of Kerala. Lets think the Kazhakootam tower can handle 100 users at a time. There are 14 districts in Kerala. Lets assume 10 users from each district joined technopark . So now the total number of devices is 14 x 10 => 140 . But remember the tower can handle only 100. I don't know whether these guys know how to check how many users are logged in , from where etc. We all carry EVDO for its mobile, else would have asked for a landline right ?
I know writing a mail nor calling to customer service will never resolve the issue. But this open letter is for people who was following me who may be seeing the bad words splitting from my mouth about the BSNL. So you can guess why I was saying the same.
Today I have also mailed TRAI a complaint regarding the hello tune subscription made as a hell and DND never activated. ie for another story. Yes will soon tell what will happen in a short day.
I am not sure what will you do if you were in this position. I am interested to know your feelings too.

Yesterday ( 15th March 2011 ) was my last working day at SandBlue Software Solutions. Change is the law of life, so we cannot stick on to one. So I am moving from Technopark, Trivandrum. Yes I loved Technopark, its full of colours :-) . You will not get bored, always refreshed ;-).
We have a small party in the evening. Dileep G even expressed that SandBlue has the most talented guys he have ever seen in his 6 years of carrer. Though I don't have such a huge years of experience, I think he is right I too felt the same though I just worked for a few months.
I am missing you guys, but do keep in touch. Its not an end, but a start. Thanks for your support given to me on various occasions.

Working for Sandblue, Technopark

I left ISPG on 5th November 2010, after working for around 3 years. I learned many things and I am Thankful to all ISPG'ians for giving me wonderful opportunities. In the evening I had a nice coffee with my friends and colleagues. Some of them expressed their love towards me( offering tea and gifts ;-) ). I have never ever thought I will see such a wonderful farewell post too.
I was having lots of plans, but have never thought I will be working for Sandblue Software Solutions , Technopark. Yes sometimes things are like that life is full of problems and the Mathematics that we learn cannot be applied here ( Remember the song 1+1 = 2 is Maths , but 1+1 is love )
So I started working with SandBlue. Working at Sandblue is something different. I have some PHP 5 gurus( Zend certified ), jQuery gurus, Linux gurus and an awesome work place like Technopark.
Life at Trivadrum is something different than in cochin. Yes I am loving Trivadrum than my life at Cochin.

Brought Videocon DTH some months back. But now the service is dead. It has gone dead for around a week now. I was calling the customer care, and they are not even taking the phone . I got angry and posted in twitter, and thought I may get an answer .

To that my father K T Velayudhan replied with a funny tweet . @harikt @videocon_d2h -Correct Hai ? CORRUPT Hai . You can see his tweet status over here.

So am coming to the subject vendor Lock. We all are being locked by these vendors. This is an example of vendor locks and why we should promote some open systems, other than just these vendor devices. I brought the device for around 1600 INR, if I want to move from videocon to another service I may want to buy the other service providers DTH device. So there should be some one like TRAI to make some rules for the device , so I or you as a customer with the same device can switch to another provider.

Also I would like to thank TRAI for implementing the mobile portability . Like the same we should have a single device for DTH. Who is controlling DTH ? I would like to know and promote open systems rather than these vendor locked useless providers.

Trace the IP from where the packets are being lost

Some days back , I wrote a post about the packet loss of my BSNL EVDO . So today I learned something more from my friend Prajith .

Let me share with you, so you too can check where the packet loss, which dns is having the issues resolving it etc.

So the command to run in terminal ( GNU / Linux ) is mtr domain-name .

I have switched the default bsnl dns to google's dns. You can screenshots for the mtr domain-name in twitpic.

A huge loss :-) , so damn cool :P .

Mobile Number Portability , Who will win ?

TRAI has implemented a good feature, the number portability. The new feature according to the sources is almost finished. A big question is in-front of us, who will win this game ?
We have some major players like BSNL , MTNL , Vodafone, Tata , Airtel , Aircel etc . What will happen to public sector if this feature is introduced ?

Do you guys have ever thought of the scenario ? If not its time to think .

Its something like when private schools were introduced . People moved their children's from the public schools which were often closed, nor taught properly . And soon the government lecturers started missing the game ( Many of you know what happened and what was the situation :-) ). Yes the same scenario will shortly happen to public sector telecommunication who says we are the giants.
You will defnitely know what I am talking and who is loosing :-) .
Cheers guys , welcome competitors for better service, better customer support for the money we pay .

I wished if it was introduced to landlines too :-) . Lots of services to be thrown.

A customer feedback of Samsung Galaxy 3 ( GT-I5801 )

Some of you already know I am an open-source fan, and that's the only reason I brought my new Android set, its none other than Samsung Galaxy 3 ( GT-I5801 ). Although I loved openmoko the cost was some what not affordable for me at the time.

You may be thinking why I was forced to write a feedback about Samsung Galaxy 3 ( GT-I5801 )

Yes its none other than it was not a phone which works as I expected . I am not complaining about the phone nor about Samsung product , but I don't want some one to buy the one as I thought.

1 ) AGPS :
What do you mean by AGPS ? Anyone knows ? It was really the first one that breaks all :-) . The customer care support guy says its ~~advanced~~ ( my mistake knowing properly ) assisted GPS . ~~When we hear advanced what do you think ? It may be having more features than GPS right ?~~ The answer is you need internet connection to get the google maps and its how it works . My friends brought Nokia mobile phone and it doesn't need the maps of google. It works well with the maps pre installed on the handset. GPS is using the towers to get the location . It just needs the maps to plot where you are. So why do we want to download each time the google maps and spend the huge amount for the KB used especially when we have limited bandwidth ?
So if you need a GPS connection without an internet connectivity, then the first one I recommend is drop GT-I5801 , its not for you or me.

Update : From a recent googling I came to know that installing MapDroyd you can browse GPS offline for Android. Visit slideme and download it from there. Installed application via laptop and moved via blue-tooth . Yes this works with the project called openstreetmap.

2 ) Battery :
I am not sure whether its the expected behaviour or not , but I feel its a dirty one . It shows the battery charge around 3/4th and suddenly dropping to go dead with red alert. I wonder how this system is detecting the balance power. I went to Samsung Customer Service Center and asked the guy about GPS and Battery issue. It was a wonderful experience waiting there and seeing different customers with variety of complaints. The service executive told me to call a trainer :P who works somewhere else to know more about the GPS and Battery. I also got the call from the Samsung's call center for which I already logged a complaint . I want to admit that they called me to resolve the issue. But sorry, it was not working as I expected.

3 ) Kites :
I installed Kites on my recently brought Windows 7 , and it was not connecting with the device . And I feel everything as a mess :-( .

4 ) *123# and mobile tracking for samsung Galaxy 3 GT-I5801 :
Recently looking again on the specification especailly for writing this post, the mobile tracking facility is not there :-) . But I don't know how these settings are in my phone. May a new change they made . Anyway if it was there , it will not work. ie when you enable mobile tracker, to track your phone when its lost . The codes like *123# which is used to get the balance etc will not work :-) . You want to turn it off, else you will get OSS CODE error . I googled some days back to recognise the issue and now in the specification it seems missing. Great :-).

5 ) Calendar :

Every one will not be connected to internet all time. You must be connected to see the Calendar which is a hell :-) . Any low price mobile comes with Calendar is an awesome feature . What you feel ?

6 ) Camera :
Ya its good , effects are good. Player and sound quality is good.

And finally its a worth phone if you have internet connectivity all the time. But in my case its not for the 3G is having limited bandwidth in our country. They need to spend a huge amount for the spectrum right ;-) . You know all the issues right ;-) .

Internet connection speed in South India , especially Kerala

On a recent post my friend prajith expressed his concern of the packets travelling around a long distance. If you are interested read here. We also had a nice discussion over it, and I think he is right.

If you knows me, well you know I used to be online more than 12 hours a day, sometimes around 16 hours ;-). I love to be part of different tech groups. Used to travel in south India to attend different events . ie why I brought the EVDO with south India roaming. It served not too bad for some years . Especially when I was in cochin. But I don't feel things are moving on the right track for BSNL EVDO. Its becoming worst and worst day by day. May be they are trying to push 3G , but to my knowledge EVDO is also a 3G CDMA connection. I have taken some screenshots after connecting to internet. If you have some computer background this picture will definitely say all things to you.

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 , connecting to internet via wvdial , so we can see the dns, ip address obtained etc. From many of my friends experience I have came to know that speed of internet connection is fastest in GNU/Linux than windows , so if this is the case of GNU / Linux you can guess how it will be in Windows :-) .

Now we are pinging to the dns server. You can see the 100% packet loss. According to google answers, packet loss is the issue with the isp . ie in my case BSNL. I have once from cochin even reported this to BSNL customer care. They used to say we don't support in Linux. If you have trouble in windows let us know :P .

After a long try connecting and disconnecting I was some how ping to google.com . Here also a huge packet loss . I feel its time for me to quit BSNL's poor EVDO connection and get something else . I wonder whether the device I brought can be used for 3G device of any other provider ? Its a ZTE modem AC8700 . Does anyone know about this ?

I was looking docomo 3G as an alternative for my unlimited internet connection. But after seeing the internet connectivity speed after certain GB , I wonder how can I browse with a speed of 10KB :P . What are these providers looking for ?

Google will be taking all of us to cloud soon with the new Google Chrome OS. And I welcome the fastest move to 3G, but what about the speed ? Why the limit in bandwidth ? And sometimes like this packet loss ?

She Has Destroyed My Golf Passion!!!!!

Life and Marriage

I just turned 25 years one month back. Many of my friends are of the same age, either just some + or - 2 . When one of my friend Noufal shared his feelings I was not aware I too will be falling into the same circumstances.
My father has already registered in some matrimonial website and he is looking for some one to suit me :P. When I was in college , I too have dreamed to be with some one :) . But after getting out of college life and dealing with real life I recognised a fact that all my calculations are wrong :) ( college life + dreams != bachelors life + dreams != married life dream ) . Yes so I whole heartedly rejected the proposal made by my father.
Dreaming is something funny and life is something other than that. I know where I am at present and what I want to be. I have some dreams and I am working on it . But if some one enters my life I may not be able to full-fill my dream nor her dreams. Girls always dreams and its always hard to satisfy their dreams :).
What my mother fears is whether I have any one else in my mind ( he he he സ്വാഭാവികം , ഗ്ലാമര്‍ അയി പൊയ്ല്ലേ, എന്ത് ചെയാന്‍. ചുമ്മാ just for horror ). She now adays used to read my blog posts too. So not commenting more :P.

First of all let me wish all my readers a Happy Republic day . I wake up little late around 9:00 am in the morning, for yesterday I was working in my night shift . My cousin was watching the malayalam movie Kalapani . It was really a good movie which will increase our patriotism.
Many of the Indians itself has supported the British government at the time to bring such a situation. So we cannot just blame the British government. After getting freedom from British government too we can see some of the Indians have not learned anything.
Please guys unite we rule , divide they rule . Don't make any one to rule us.

DTH services in Kerala seems to boom

In my home I uses a C Band dish . I don't want to pay the monthly rental . But recently there is a great boom for the DTH services . Though the governement offered 100+ channels and much in the DTH , they fails to fullfill it. May be some of the officials have taken some money, to make the private parties flourish.
Anyway that's not the matter for now . There are various DTH services available in Kerala . Some are Tata sky , Reliance Big TV , Sun DTH , Airtel etc.
Recently Videocon has also entered the market . I am a fan of Videocon as our TV may be the first videocon device that was brought to my home . After that we have brought many videocon appliances.
I think we can compare these DTH services, that may be useful for the customer .

Reliance Big TV : Some of my friends have gone for Big TV . I have looked the website to know about the packages and costs. But seems to be broken in my ubuntu and I didn't see anything like that . So it may not be a good option jumping for big tv.

Sundirect : The basic package starts from 440 Rs for 4 months , so around 110 Rs per month. Around 130 + channels .

Tatasky : The starter pack of tatasky is 125 per month . Don't know whether they have forgot to add the WE , People , India vision etc . And they have not ordered in a good arrangement like Asianet , Asianet plus, Asianet News , Kairali , We , People , Amrita etc.

Airtel : Comes with 110 per month . The arrangement of the website is poor in my chrome browser . Don't know how it looks in IE.

Videocon : The site is arranged in such a way that its very easy to get the information . The starter pack starts with 150 INR .

There are some great offers for some of the DTH services now . You will be getting a subscription packs for free.

It may be good for you to checkout the websites for the latest offers , as I don't know whether I will be able to update this .

HDFC Customer service and my Grievance

I was a Happy customer of Union Bank of India . Recently ISPG switched from Union Bank of India to HDFC for faster processing and .... . But from there onwards things seems to be slower for me.
HDFC Panampally nagar Branch guys came to ISPG office to issue us the debit card , cheque leaf etc. I gave my voters ID as the proof . My name was just written as Hari in it . I told my initial as K T . They refused to write it, but they need one initial too. As my fathers name was Velayudhan , they told me for the time they will write as Hari V . They told its very simple to change the name . You just come to our office and give us the proof and we will do the necessary things .
I went there many times for this simple name change with my driving licence . Things seems to be hard for me to go each and every day I mailed regarding it from HDFC website . It was on October 19th I got my reply , that I want to submit data to the nearest branch .

As I have already submitted the datas I want to know the status of it . Two days before I went to HDFC panampally Nagar , but the lady has gone for food . Again today its December 15th again went to HDFC ( Note the date its more than 1 month . October - December ) to know the status as none of them called me and reported there was some problem or whether my name has changed .

My temper rose as one of the lady told me its not possible to change the name, who told you . After that she went and searched the documents and came and said aah need the Managers signature . I will send this today and told she is not responsible for the mistake as the other person have not submitted to her . I think customers need to go and do the work of a peon or the workers of HDFC . A private Bank like HDFC , seems like working worst like the Government office . I am really satisfied with the three months . My father do have accounts in HDFC , may need to ask more about their customer service :-) .

This all happened on December 3rd 2009 ( സിംപല്‍ വരട്ടെ ടയോം ടയോം ടയോം ).
Train Number 2075 Janasedabdhi Express coach number D2 .
I was sitting on my seat ( 28 ) when a lady worn with yellow churidar passes besides me . I just looked to see her face . wow she is so beautiful ( I don't have any words to express it ;-) . When my friends design a website and show to clients , they will say ... ah looks good , but it doesn't looks awesome . But this is not the case like that . I can say awesome . ha ha ha ) . She do have a wonderful eyes ( കണ്ണ് വച്ചതല്ല തുപ്പി കളയാം ) .
I thought of introducing myself to her . But I didn't get that much courage :-( . I was thinking how to get more details about her . Aaah its reservation coach ( ഈ പോസ്റ്റ്‌ ഇനും ശേഷം മികവരും ആരും പേര് വെകാരുണ്ടാകില്ല . sorry guys if it happend so :-( . അത് വിധി ആണ് ) . I looked her seat number and chart . Seat number 53 seems a 61 years old lady :-( ( അയ്യോ ആളിയ പണി പാളിയല്ലോ ഗ്യഹു ) . I was wondering what to do . Just looked more closely oh my god the seat number was wrong , it was 59 lol ( തുള്ളിച്ചാടുന്നു ).
Yes I got it . She was going to Kollam from Calicut , her name was written as X ( not disclosing her name for you may search and find her . അത് വേണ്ട കേട്ടോ . Anyway its starting with A . Go for a wild guess ) age 22 . I thought of searching her in orkut , but how ? There are 42 persons for the particular location . hm.
I don't know whether she will read this blog and recognise me for she have not noticed me . lol . Just for fun I blogged about this ( ട്വിറ്റെര്‍ ഉം ഓര്‍കുടും ഫസിബൂക് ഇന്റെയും കാലം അല്ലെ വല്ലതും നടന്നാലോ എന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷ :-) . Booking your train tickets from IRCTC

This is my experience booking a ticket from the Indian Railway website irctc.co.in . This post is also to make aware of the people who are still using IE 6. If you are still using IE 6 you must know something .
The world wide web has changed a lot , and the browsers too . Internet Explorer 6 is an eight-year-old browser that cannot cope with the demands of the modern internet ( There are campaigns running to bring down IE 6 ) . It has lots of failures that Microsoft itself agrees. Now the world wide web is moving to HTML 5 which the internet explorer ( IE 8 ) cannot support at the moment . The browsers that supports are Mozilla firefox , Google chrome , Webkit , Amaya , Opera , Safari etc. So try any one of the following browsers that you like . The first four are open source projects, so its good to choose from the four . And I recommend Mozilla firefox for smarter , safer browsing .

So now let me tell why I am writing a post about the Indian railway website ( irctc.co.in ) . I am an open source lover using GNU/Linux operating system and not a proprietary OS like Microsoft . I tried to book my ticket online with Mozilla Firefox 3.5 ( the latest version which supports HTML 5 ) . I was unable to do it , and I mailed to the customer care about it . The problem was you will not be able to find any trains between stations .

The customer care was so helpful that they replied me with screen shots from IE6 . I replied to them pointing my OS ( Ubuntu 9.10 ) and browser ( Mozilla firefox ) and told if they need I will send my screenshot ;).

I got a reply after some hours again to use IE 5.5 or greater . ( I don't have windows to run IE 6 ) . As a web developer I really wondered , I was really ashamed of the government website still looking IE 5.5 , 6 users :) .

~~Guys the world has changed , its time to support open source projects . At-least make it cross browser compatible .~~
Got reply from irctc customer service that my location is incorrect . Keeping the mail and the screenshot they send to me . But the location I got is from their website itself :) ( For the time I didn't have taken that screenshot to keep it here :) , but I am happy that it works now. Thank you guys for your hard work ) . Also the spelling of Ernakulam is wrong I think ( Don't know whether its Eranakulam or Ernakulam ) .

Also one more thing for those who don't know more about the web and browser wars . Its not Microsoft that developed HTML .There is a consortium w3.org . They are making the standards . So please see for more information and get updated .

Our great Munnar trip

I went to Munnar with my friends on 14th Saturday . It was really a wonderful trip . We were a gang of 13 guys . They are Alex Tomy ( Sarath ) populary called Maani , Abdu , Dawood , Dileeep Paul , Joppan , Malli , Comrade Praveen, Rajesh Mohan , Renjith Raj, Sanooj, Sujith M S ,Vijeesh and not the last but the least myself .
I am to Munnar for the second time . It was really a wonderful trip and I remembered my last tour from college with my friends of CUIET .

The echo point was flooded with water , so I was not able to take the snap of the rock where we guys took the last group snaps . This tour is dedicated to my friends of CUIET . Love you guys and I miss you all , but still remembering you and you are always in my heart .

Comparing Palakkad as Beauty and Wind as the Beast

I was @ Olavakkode in Palakkad district today to attend a Reception of my brother Rajeev . I was really enjoying the beauty of Palakkad and the nice breeze when coming from Ernakulam to Palakkad . It was really a beautiful place with small rivers making the beautiful noice ( chillum chillum ) , fields , cows grassing etc. Returning back I was with Brother Praveen and he was telling about the weather and about western ghats. We can see fully green places towards Palakkad in train . I cannot see such places now in Kerala . But I don't know whether such places are still there . When I was a kid some of the places near my home was like that . But now all are filled with soil and houses replaced the beauty .So I am saying Palakkad as the Beauty .
You may be wondering why I called Wind as the Beast . Am I right ?
I reached Olavakkode around 4:30 and the weather seems its going for a big rain . I was not having an umbrella and to my goodness , it didn't rain , but the storm was such a powerful one . It brokes several glasses of the railway station , was horrible . That's why I called wind as the Beast .
Anyway it was a wonderful trip and I do want to visit Palakkad for many more functions . I hope my friends will be calling for next functions to come .

Govt Medical colleges are far better than Private Butcher shop medical colleges

Today it was a sad day . Don't want to point why I thought of writing like this . Anyway I cannot agree with Minister Sreemathi teacher that private hospital doctors are doing a fantastic work .
I don't see any humanity by the private colleges. The doctors don't have any ethics . The management want to run the hospital in a profitable manner and they are putting a knife on the person who are coming . Its really a hell especially when you spends lakhs of money and you are not able to get the person lively . I don't know whether any one faces a situation like this . Its only when you loose something you will know how painful it is .
The government may want to get a statistics of how many persons are coming to the private colleges and how many are leaving after they are cured properly , how many are died , how many left with unsatisfied treatment etc .
I don't know whether there is any such way now . The private colleges are spacious and they may be having some professors and the others may be the students . They are utilising the students . I have heard that when an operation occurs they are calling government doctors and giving some % of money for the operation . Some government doctors are pointing to private colleges for operations also .

We may need to compare private colleges to Butcher shop ( അറവു ശാല in malayalam ) . If this is the case now, in the near future we can see more Butcher shops as every one seems to be learning Engineering and Medicine with huge amount as fees ( Heard the one year fee of coimbatore Amrita Engineering college as 1,38,000 ) . If this is the fee for an Engineering college what may be the fee for a Medicine seat ? So the doctors want to get back the money in the next short time . So what to do ? Kill . Yes they are given licenc to Kill . If the government is not taking any actions , we can reduce the population soon .

Is train running time inversely proportional to money ?

Yesterday ( 25th october ) I was travelling to Ottapalam to attend my friend Ruby's ( not ruby on rails ;) ) sister's ( Roshna ) marriage . From Ernakulam to Shornur in a passenger the cost was just 17 INR , but it took 3 hours . In my return I was in Kochuveli express which costs around 35 INR and just took 1 hour 45 minutes . Just remembers the past school and collge life . So I can say train time is proportinal to 1/money ( lol , just kidding ).
This post is not just to say proportionality , but have some hidden agendas . Let me come to the point , every one will love to see your friends in occassions like B'day , marriage , house warming or what ever it may be. You will be always happy to introduce your friends too .
So if you are being invited , atleast do make a call, if you are not comfortable attending it . Now technology has grown , so the invitation is through mail and many are sending just a mail about it . I don't know how many of you check your mail box often . So just give a call to confirm that he/she reads about it ( to all readers ) .

Will it help a company promoting employees to Blog in company website ?

The Social media is now the way to market anything . Every web-development companies are promoting the social media to push their business . Recently one of my friend was telling me that their company started a blog and is promoting employees to blog on company website . They are giving payments for the post .
Lets look whether this help the company in any means ? ( This is my opinion you can write your comments about this :) )

Yes, today I was looking the Google time line , the history of the big search engine gaints Google . The first thing every person will hear when entering to the world of internet google . A kid to to adult hear the term google. I too have heard a lot when I started using internet and now too I am using google and many of its services . It may be really interesting to know how google has come and grown . If you are a user of google you may be interested like me . Google has acquired many companies in the short span. I was looking the list too . You can see from the press release of google about it .

The google time line starts from the year 1995 when ( Larry met Sergy ) and is upto 2009 February more may be available shortly ( Don't know its only known to google itslef ) .

Yes , orkut may be popular than facebook in India . Today I was reading a post from Techcrunch that orkut is not supporting to download the contacts list from orkut as of previously . See the post here.

After reading that I just logged into my orkut account to see any scraps are there for me . Wow orkut has come with a new feature friends suggestion in the home page . It seems interesting to know that they don't want to loose the users of orkut or move to some other social networking site .

The arrangement seems to be interesting than the friends suggestion in facebook as I have both accounts :) .

One more feature is added named Promotion . You can send promotions in orkut now . The screenshot of one of my friend Nasarulla has been taken for you . Sorry Nasaru I am introducing you to public :) . Hope you enjoy this moment .

I got an SMS from one of my friend James regarding the new number for his brother . Its just 8 digit numbers . As his brother was in Abudhabhi for the past 1.5 years I thought it may be internet number which guys used to get cards of yahoo or any such service . I dialled the number and when it rings my mind says is it local number itslef or a call to gulf ? :( . I dropped the call and confirmed with James .

Yes Tata Docomo has launched the 8 digit mobile number for Kerala , India . I am having a doubt now . The users seems to increase and how come they can reduce to 8 digit mobile number ? Anyway it seems interesting one that it will be easy to remember. The number starts like this 8089 XXX XXX . The 'X' here stands for the numbers 0-9 .

Translate your website using Google translate widget

Though I was aware about the google translate widget I was not using it for my website http://harikt.com . But now it seems I need to use a translator as many of the web users are from different countries . I don't know whether any one uses it or not in my website . But let the translator be there to help them quickly .
If you need a google translator , you can get one after all its free ;) http://translate.google.com/translate_tools . You just need to specify your default language and copy and paste the small piece of code some where on your site . Now this small widget may be helpful for some of your visitors :) .
Also there is another option for the users if the website owner has not provided a widget like this . You can just drag and drop your language to the browser tool bar and press it when the page loads in another language .
You can also select a particular area for translation . Thanks to google translate for the wonderful function .

Still having Problems using EVDO in GNU/Linux

I called the customer support of BSNL calicut to know about the problem . They told me the issue is not reported by anyone in calicut and asked me to bring the instrument to their office. I know many are still using windows , so how come any user report about this problem . One thing I am sure is its not the problem with my browser . There is a fsug in calicut and I have seen the problem is reported there .

I resolved the issue in GNU/Linux ( Ubuntu 9.04 ) with the help of one of my friend Prajith :

Edit resolv.conf from command line

$sudo gedit /etc/resolv.conf
Change the IP details to
4.2.2.2
4.2.2.1
and save it .
$sudo chattr +i /etc/resolv.conf
It will works :)

Did you get a Google wave invitation ?

Google Wave is the latest hot word searched in google and used in twitter today ( 31st September 2009 ) . Google has announced previously that on 31st september onwards google will be sending invitation for those who have signed up for google wave . The first 1,00,000 guys will get the invitation some domain users and some of the users of google apps .
I am excited to see wave in action and have registered for the google wave account . I think I am not in the first 1,00000 users . Anyway I am waiting for invitation from other guys who have got a google wave invitation . Its something like a wait for gmail when gmail was launched .

Calicut University Sharing Finance software to MG, Kerala and Kannur University

Recently I got a mail from Murali Paramu to the friends of kssp uae group . It was about the Univeristy of Calicut, Kerala set a model by implementing their

One of my friend Sujith M S has shared with me that the MG university never updates their site . Its better to see Calicut University has a site which is operational than the one with MG . I don't know the case of Kerala University :) .

Trouble shooting reading Malayalam fonts in Mozilla firefox

I am using GNU/Linux in my system . So the the font installer will not work for me and more over I don't trust .exe files if I have a windows OS .
You can install the popular addons for Mozilla firefox like the Padma indic translation script .
Or alternatively you can do this in another way . For eg : let my home directory is /home/harikt .
Go to your home directory and press ctrl + h which will show all the hidden files in the home . You can see a .fonts directory inside it .

So the structure is /home/harikt/.fonts . Copy and paste your font into it .
Hope any one of the above methods works for you .

Difference between Hackers and Crackers

Recently I saw some blog posts misusing the term Hacker . I hope the post is done by some copy writers rather than technical people . Copy writers may be able to write the posts in good English copying from some other blogs . But he/ she may not be knowing what it does. The term is misused by technical people too so we can't blame a copy writer :) as I too was misunderstood once . If you are an opensource lover then probably you may know the difference and let others know about this .

I thought of making aware you about the term hacker and cracker . The term hacker and cracker is defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force . They are the people behind every technical terms .

Hacker : Someone with a strong interest in computers, who enjoyslearning about them and experimenting with them.

Craker : Someone who tries to break the security of, and gain accessto, someone else's system without being invited to do so. (See:hacker and intruder.)

Trouble shooting Google and its services for EVDO

Oh first of all , I am coming back to blogger for the general posts . My technical blog is running still at http://harikt.com . As I don't want to disturb my readers with mixed posts especially only for a specific location :) . So I am back blogger .

Does any one have any trouble loading gmail , google , orkut using EVDO connection in GNU/Linux ?
I was having trouble loading google and its services especially orkut :) using the EVDO ( Wireless internet connection which is 3G service ) device provided by the BSNL. As its GNU/Linux we will be using the Open DNS . Sometimes google itself says I am using unsupported browser . But I am using a wonderful browser which was supported by Google itslef , the Mozilla Firefox 3 .

Keeping a screenshot from that .
Today I thought of looking into the issue .and thought of flushing my dns . The command is >sudo /etc/init.d/nscd restart
But I found the nscd is not installed in my system . I installed it and does the same command . I have seen in the ubuntu forums about the below command too .
>sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
Now it seems google and its services are loading much more faster . I don't know whether its because of the ISP we are having trouble to load the google and its service as google complains to contact the ISP , but all other pages loads fine .
I have also seen in group discussion about this trouble and some of the windows users do not have any trouble . So I am wondering why its so :) . Anyway its not a trouble with GNU/Linux as I don't have any trouble loading the pages from wired connection of BSNL 500+C ( 500 Combo ) from my home .
This works for me . If not let me know the problem . If you have configured with some other means please do share it .

This method seems not working often . Please look into the other post which resolves the issue .

Download a site completely

Have any one thought of downloading a site and read it offline ? Yes some of you may have thought of this if you are using an Internet connection , when your payment is hourly basis.
Today I would like you to introduce a nice command wget which can be used to download any site completely. Now you can view the site completely offline when it finish downloading the pages .
Eg : #wget --wait=20 --limit-rate=250K -r -p -U Mozilla http://example.com

When you execute this command it starts downloading the site completely.
Let me explain the things used in this command . The --wait=20 means to make a delay of 20 seconds . Else some sites may recognise that you are downloading the complete site and stops you further . The limit rate is the maximum download speed, -r for recursive , -p is directory prefix , -U user agent .

You can use man wget for the detailed documentation . Hope this will help you and read in offline.

Teaching/Learning Engineering graphics with Blender

Though Engineering Graphics is easy to learn and score good marks students find it difficult to understand and learn. When I joined my Engineering it was around 3 months late . I joined on 27th october but the class was started on August :( .

I was totally new to graphics and my mind was blank. When two lectures Rahith sir , Saneesh sir and Aisha Ruby came and asked to draw some line in top-view , front-view , side-view etc . I cant follow what they were telling. I too thought its the toughest of all subjects. But slowly I understood that its an easy one and not the toughest for me.

Seeing the blender I thought of my Engineering days. Yes blender is a 3D modelling tool. It can be used to model 3D objects. We can see the top-view , front-view etc in different planes , when we are drawing an object. Yes this modelling tool is a good one to teach and learn the Engineering Graphics. So you can download and try it out. Its an opensource , so dont bother about the payment. :)

Text based browsing through linux konsole terminal

I was thinking how people used to browse the Internet when there was no graphical interface . ie completely when the screen was black and only the white characters to see. Yes from the shell or the command prompt or from the linux console and browsed the world wide web . Have any one thought of it ?
Some of you may have thought of it and may have skipped the topic right ? But today I got a chance to do so . Yes have you heard about ssh ? No need to know about ssh for consle browsing . But just asked about it.
You need to install the lynx browser in your linux . apt-get or yum or synaptic will do it for you . Then try it from command prompt . The $ symbol is to show the terminal . Dont type dollar . :) .

$lynx http://www.php.net

You can now move using your cursor . The enter key will help you to go to the next link when pressed. Or the -> will go to the next link. <- will move to the previous link . I am not writing a lot about the command. There is good help available. Go for man lynx. :)

Gtalk for Linux

A search for Google Voice Talk for Linux .
Google is in the front for supporting all the open source projects and all . Google have a lots of products like picasa , gtalk, chrome etc .
Picasa for Linux is now available . I was looking for the gtalk which was missing in Linux. Google does not provide any gtalk application for linux . Why ?.
Google the pioneers infront of giving grands and all to opensource, developing applications that run on windows . Why its happening like this ? I dont understand why they are doing so ?

There are lots of other chat utilities like pidgin , kopete etc. What is missing in these are the voice chat . I have not found a voice chat support for pidgin, may be beacuse I dont used to chat .

Now I am using the chat for my friends are in different parts of the world. So a means of lesser money is chatting through the internet . You will be fed up when its text chat . So I looked for the voice chat. Yes its missing in pidgin .

I searched google to find one. Atlast I found one. Anyway I would like to introduce it to you . Its Mooch one I found from the sourceforge. Mooch needs java run time environment version > 1.5 . i dont know whether it works for any one ? It was not a success for me. So I wants to make to the black list as like pidgin . :(
I also found another client Empathy . I have not tested it . But I think it will works . I need to make a try.

Jouney in KSRTC from Ernakulam to Calicut

It was Tuesday 13 th January 2009 , I was not feeling good so bored a KSRTC and reached the stand . One kasaragod KSRTC was waiting for me , I jumped and got a seat . The KSRTC started around 6:20 and it was asusual the Ernakulam city , full of traffic block. It hardly moved . I got my ticket around 6:30 and it costs 129 rupees :( ( I thought of the train fare suddenly ) . The bus left the Edapally around 7:10 PM. I felt sleepy and slept for sometime. I suddenly wake up hearing the sounds of other vehicles. Yes it reaches Thrissur , but the vehicle cannot enter the stand , every Bus is disordered and have blocked the entrance. I suddenly thought of the Ernakulam District . I can understand why the traffic blocks usually occurs, by those who dont have common sense or having much driving licence. But why in a KSRTC stand ? Oh so I cant blame the local drivers ... :(
It was around 9:00 PM the bus reached. I enquired "when it will leave , so I can have my food". The driver told it will leave within 10 minutes. After sometime the bus was put in to the stand . The driver nor the conductor doesnt came . Its 9:15 , 9:30 , 9:40 ..... 10 :00 PM . The bus was completely filled at that time. I got up and went to enquire about the status .
Hm ........ When entering the Thrissur stand the glass of the bus was broken by the other KSRTC and the driver and conductor are convincing some one. I got angry , I was waiting for it 1 hour ...
I enquired who the station mater is ? None of them answered my question . Anyway the bus started its jounery again after some of them got hands with me around 10:15 PM.
I slept again and after some time I wake up . Yes I want to go for 1 . What to do now ? Oh I thought of the facilities in the train with just 53 rupees . Hm what a hell .... ... Oops I looked the place where it has reached .. Need to travel a lot again around more than 1 hour ... Yes I waited till the bus reaches the stand and jumped and run not to catch the other bus , but for a No 1 .
I cannot express how much I suffered during the 1hour . :) Wow I learned a new leasson with a good experience. :)

Hacker DOM Day 3

I waked up little late , and after my daily routines I walked quickly to reach the seminar complex to hear more seminars.

Today it was not a seminar, but was an interactive talk . All was asked to introduce our self . Then it was a small session by Anoop John about the enterpreneurship, and how we can achieve with Free Software . I really enjoyed the session .

Then it was a small talk by Anvir Aravind. From I was able to understand the terms Hacker and Cracker . Yes , do you really knows who a cracker and who a hacker is ?

A cracker is an individual who attempts to access computer systems without authorization. These individuals are often malicious, as opposed to hackers, and have many means at their disposal for breaking into a system. See also: hacker, Computer Emergency Response Team, Trojan Horse, virus, worm.

A hacker person who delights in having an intimate understanding of the internal workings of a system, computers and computer networks in particular. The term is often misused in a pejorative context,where "cracker" would be the correct term.

I was really new to understand the difference , though I was a person in the IT field . I have read in the book "Computer Networks and Internet Security" a text prescribed for the seventh semester of BTech . In that they are calling hackers every where. http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc1392.txt But when i got a chance to understand the meaning of the term from rfc , I was really stunned. Also have read about hackers in the news paper too, in the malayala manorma. But now you guys please do understand who a hacker and who a cracker is.
The session ended and I have a small chat with Anvir , Anoop John , Sujith , Abilash , Kiran etc ..
The after noon session is a talk about the malayalam font and I was not able to attend it . Sorry guys I was little busy preparing to leave to my usual work . :)
I bored the bus reached Vadake stand , called my friend Renjith K Raj , he has told me to call him , so will pick me . I waited for him , within a few minutes , he reached there and took me . We went to meet one of our friend (Aswathy) of our class in the BTech class of CUIET . :)
Oh alas she was not there , has left a few minitues before we reach. We have a talk with her friend for sometime and left to railway station. The train was late around 1 :30 hours . Though he has some other appointments waited there for me and I left Thrissur saying Good Bye to Renjith , Thrissur and Hacker DOM .

Hacker DOM

I am writing about the Hacker DOM event at the Govt. Engineering College Thrissur organized by the computer science department . I have reached here around 10:30 . I was late about 1:30 hours. Quickly went to the exhibition hall and then to the talk of Juan Carlos Gentile .

He was working in debain and I got something new about the audacity.

Then moved to the work shop. Got some new idea from there too . It was about blender a session by Zadeek of CUSAT Engineering college. It was a 3D animation open source utility . I was really new to it. But was able to understand a lot. From him I was able to understand that the project was first a properitery one . After that some of his coders left with out completing it. And he was not having a mentality to leave it. So he made it in under the terms of GPL. Now its a great success . Thanks Zadeek for giving us a wonderful session.

Then learned something about the robots . I was not much aware of the functions that controls the robot . We were having a working robot . He gave us some code and tried the functionalities . Also told there is an open source move in the electronics field . The arduino board .

Also learned about a new one, which was really an interesting one . I dont know whether any one heard about open moko. Its a project dedicated to delivering mobile phones with an open source software stack. The debain is being used in it . I was seeing the device for the first time. Anyway I am sure it will replace Apple iphone .

In the night around 8:00 PM there was a small film show by the open source peoples. I was there to watch the show. Was able to see the small animation movie Big Buck Bunny which was developed in BLENDER . You can watch it :) and see how blender works.

But there were some failures , I would like to notice. They were trying to show some movies and often the players crashed. It was a show to make aware of the people that the movies and all other facilities will run like the same windows applications. But what happens when there is a bug ? I dont know why it happens . Anyway I would like to tell you that , that may be because of the version conflicts that they have installed.

Going behind Joomla , I got a lot of chance to keep in touch with different open source technologies. I used to get the view source , when i love some sites. From some of the sites , I got a chance to understand the new technologies , especially the one from google.

Google has different API's . One of it is the the AJAX Libraries API . The ajax API consists of the most popular opensource javascript libraries. Some of them are jquery , dojo , prototype, script.aculas etc. I have heard and have used some of the javascript apis with out knowing what it is ?

But when I get in touch I can recognise they all the very popular javascript frame works. I got a chance to visit , the site of script.aculous and in that as the author describes , you may have used my code with out knowing me . Ya it was a real truth and I got inspired by these guys .

All these javascript frame works has its own javascript file to load. But we dont need to load these scripts . Do you know why ?

Google hosts all these API in a single file and so you dont need to bother about the version and all. Thanks to google for this wonderful work. what you need to do is just

BSNL EVDO speed in kerala

I thought of editing my old entire post about the BSNL EVDO . I have been using EVDO from October (you can see my post regarding it) . When I started using it , there was some trouble loading pages . But now pages seems to load without trouble . I am a user of EVDO from Cochin and Calicut and I will be online most of the time. Its having better speed in calicut ( from my home town Kunnamangalam ) than in cochin ( Browsing from Vytilla ).
System : Ubuntu 9.04
Download Speed showing in the downloads of mozilla firefox : 30Kbps - 200Kbps . It depends on the time . May be because of conjusted networks . An average speed of 60Kbps will be there .
Download speed of EVDO according to cnet bandwidth meter ( http://reviews.cnet.com/internet-speed-test/ ) : Its is 99.6Kbps . Keeping the screenshot of it .

Download speed according to http://www.speedtest.net/ : Download speed is 0.28 Mbps == 286 Kbps . Keeping screen shot of it .

The BSNL has announced roaming facility for the EVDO users in Kerala , Tamil Nadu , Andhra and Karnataka . And it has also increased the monthly charge from 550 to 650. The reviced rates are applicable from 01-07-2009 onwards . For the existing customers who have taken the connection before 01-07-2009 the reviced rates will be applicable from 01-01-2010 .

I know the bandwidth depends on many factors . So I cannot gaurantee the speed of EVDO for different sites. When comparing the old days , now its seems to be good :) . You can share your location and speed in the comments .

The BSNL has announced the new stunning offers for the government employees of central / state / PSU employee categories .

This scheme is to boost the acquisition and usage of Broadband among government employees, the competent authority has approved 20% discount on Broadband Service charges (usage and rental) for Broadband connections provided to Central Government/ State Government/ PSU Employees category. The scheme is to be launched from 1st December 2008 across BSNL network and is a continuous scheme.

The serving and retired government employees also can apply for Broadband connection under this scheme. Should furnish an undertaking countersigned by their Drawing and Disbursing Officer regarding their bonafide along with the application. In case of retired employees, an attested copy of the Pension Pay Order should be submitted along with the application. The application should be marked as “FOR GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES SCHEME”.

Hi friends, I am Happy to post the first topic about the google API in this year 2009 .
Are you a web developer , learner ? Have you heard about the api of Google ? No then you need to look into it man . Really a lot of api's and lots of functions , you dont want to bother a lot. I was looking to show the location of the user with the ip (internet protocol address ) . I surfed lots of sites and found lots of codes. But was not able to successfully implement it . Either I cant upload the whole country database to sever or sometimes the codes fail. Anyway I finally I was in the google api . But at that time the google have not published its geo location api . But I was eager to learn the new topics published at google. I dont get enough time to look and make a thorough knowledge of it bcoz I get only little time for my research after my works. But still I managed to learn. Its very simple, really simple , you all guys will love to add its api and tools if you are a web developer. Simple to show graphs, maps, locations and many more using the simple apis. Love you Google . And love to be there .
In the next few posts I will try to post about the apis .

Today the CUIET 2003-2007 IT Batch organised the get together . I remembered the film classmates again today . The film classmates was a different one than that I saw at our college today . I really saw the real strength of our class. Yes , the same manner , the same way . No changes for them . :)
In the CUIET 2003-2007 IT Batch we were a total of 30 students . The majority were girls , and we the Boys lost our strength ( 21/9 ) . But still we achieved some support from some of the girls who though we were correct in some situations.
We have quarreled a lot at that times . Always were opposing , but still maintains the friendship .
After a long gap of more than 1 year when I got the mail from Jenson on November 4th, I was Happy to see it.

At last we planned to see all the classmates on 27th December for the X-mas vacation . When the days come closer , some of my friends , got tight schedules and left the plan of arrival . Some of them asked me , is the function there and all ? But some of them were very excited and told that they will be here on the day . Anyway I thought of seeing the people who are not busy , and went to our college .
Jenson was waiting for me in the entrance of the college . I stopped my vehicle and took Jenson . Wow to our surprise , all were waiting there. No one has changed a lot , thinks all in the fresh mood. Yes the leaves , the tree , the bus, the same security and all..... But dont see any . Wow yes , the real strength .
After that Liji mol came , and we waited for some of the persons who have assured , that they will be here. Saritha , Rijith , Ganesh sir, Deepa Miss and all came. It was 1:30 PM the time. To our surprise none others came . Wow I was really Happy to see them all, and we talked a lot. We enjoyed the time and it was a great pleasure seeing you all .
This post is for those who were not able to attend the function bcoz of work schedule and who were living abroad .

Time , its the thing what i dont have , I would like to learn Joomla, the content management system . I have once written in this blog about Joomala. Somedays back I was back again to Joomla . Some of my designers asked me about Joomla and its functionalities, ie y I was back again . Found 1.5 x and from 2009 onwards the 1.x will not be there. Trying to learn Joomla I can recoginse that it uses MVC , different frameworks etc .

I would like to learn Joomla. Master in it . Trying to learn and become a small master in opensource platforms. :)

I was hearing about the RIA for a long time . I don't get enough time to explore it. Yesterday I was looking the adobe flex tutorials and all . I have also heard about the JavaFX when trying to download the PHP editor plugin for Netbeans IDE 6.5 . Also browsed the Java FX site . I don't have tried it , but thinks the FX takes some time to load than that of flex. I don't know whether I am right or not, bcoz I have not made any applications with both , but only from my browsing experience .

Oscommerce and Magento

Hello mydear friends ,
I got a chance to install both Magento and Oscommerce on the server . I have tried both . I was much confortable with the oscommerce , may be because I have installed and tried to work with it before in my free time. Both Magento and Oscommerce are open source ecommerce system with great features. There are lots of extensions that we can use. But the thing i noticed in magento is that when the products are taken from the home page , the item is not present link is coming. Dont know whether its caused bcoz of the dummy items installed. I dont get a chance to look clearly into it , hope may be caused due to dummy items installed. And its some what slow too compared to oscommerce . May be the server was too slow .
If you are looking for a ecommerce site , install oscommerce or magento and customize it.

Hi every body ,
I was feeling very bad today after seeing the report of the terrorist attack in our country . I don't really know whether any one have thought of the terrorist attacks in our country .
All the politicians playing tricks to get the money and get into power. I have seen in news papers that one of our MP Krishnadas was inside Taj . Ordinary people can't afford to the rates . The MP's made by common people are going for dinner there ...... Whose money ? The common man's ( malayalathil parayanenkil kazhuthinu kathivachu pidikunna tax ) tax. Really shamed of of you politicians especially CPM telling they are for the welfare of the poor ( in Taj hm...... ) ...... If going that way i may skip what i was pointing out.
I was thinking what was happening in India for the past few years ............. ?
Is there any politics behind this terrorist attacks ?
I feel someting like that .............. Really someting , its only my view point. Don't know how many of you agree with this.
Let me tell you why i have thought so . The Tata group one of the growing or grown company which is suffering for the last few years . One of the aim of Ratan Tata to build a 1 lakh car for the common people is being delayed because of the bloody politics of Mamtha Banerji . The Tata may have lost a good amount of money after developing the plant at singur and then moving it .
We may have thought that the problem is over and may have thought its all the bloody politics of Mamtha Banerjee, but its not only to a single person . Now comes the Taj .....
What happened at Taj ? Oh the great hotel is burning in fire .........

I am very sad to see the pictures and video in the TV . Really thought of the situation of Ratan Tata , all comes in this crisis too .........
I was watching the speeches of Sharmila tagore , NSG commander and many ..........
Some of them very angry, their feelings to express the pity condition of India . One thing all Indians need to recognize if a person in India is growing , that means he is making your country rich in one form or the other . So try to use the things that will get money to our country and not to other countries from today onwards .

The graphical representation of report also a nice one. So why we need to do more or add codes to track , store and develop a report. All included just a few clicks. :)

I don't know any one have heard about feedburner. I have downloaded the new, Vuze the former called Azureus the Bittorrent Client. Installed and found that in the notification it shows the blog updates. I subscribed to the blog , and was into the feedburner. I came to know from the home page that its acquired by the Google. Wow, happy to hear that its the part of google. But I don't get what its doing. After some research in it :) I came to know that its the feeds. The rss or the atom , in which ads will be shown. Wow superb idea.
Anyway I was happy to know about the freeburner and loves it and also thanks to the developers . :)

Getting an EVDO

Finally I got my EVDO connection. Do you know how ?
As I told you before , I was going to the BSNL offices near Rajendra and Beach. Ours is a rural area so want to go to Beach office for everything. So I went there and when reaching there they told me they dont have EVDO and can get it from BSNL office near Rajendra. I have called the customer care 1500. They told me to call the Kunnamangalam exchange and given a number. I called to that number gave me another number . Called to BSNL calicut office. He told me you can collect from the BSNL office near Rajendra . Again i went there . The same words coming , you can collect from ....
I have bought a NIC card before mistakening its EVDO. I was not aware that i cannot use it from outside the district. So I thought of going for a rental scheme, bcoz was not having enough money to buy the EVDO as the payment of the NIC card was not given to me , though I have surrendered it.The land line was in the name of my father , so he needs to come for collecting it. But yesterday I thought of buying it in my name than going for a rental.
When I reach Beach office they told me need to collect from the BSNL office near Rajendra , I told him that commercial officer has asked me to buy from here. They called him, and told me will only get after two days. As I am working at Ernakulam , and will not be able to go to the BSNL office like they are telling I lost my temper. Dont know what i have told...... :) . It was only my grievance to the BSNL. Not to any particular person .
Went near the BSNL office near Rajendra and meet the commercial officer. I told him about this. He asked me to collect it from there. Else i may have dropped my plan for buying the EVDO.

Picasa albums with light box effect in web

I bought a domain name and space and uploaded all the files to server. I noticed that my server space being eaten up . :( I want to upload lots of images , but the space is a big problem. So i thought of bringing the picasa albums to my webpage. :)
Yes got some script and does it. But the script doesn't bring the lightbox effect to my site. So i modified the script .
Yes now the success is mine . Njoying the beautyf of picasa in my web . :)

EVDO

Yesterday I have called the BSNL customer care 1500 for knowing whether the service is provided. He gives me a local number of my telephone exchange. Called the local exchange gives another number and finally the man told its available now. Today I went to the BSNL office near Rajendra . It was 2:50 . The cash counter will be closed at 3:00 .
I have purchased the NIC card before without knowing I cannot use this at Ernakulam. And the payment is not yet received after surrendering the device. So I planned to go for a rental scheme. Now the problem was only those who have land line connection can go for it......
Oops my father was not with me, I am not having the landline connection. Else I can go for purchase , so will receive it. I was not having sufficient balance with me to go and purchase it. But I thought of writing about the EVDO again because if any one likes to buy it, they should know the things clearly. So dont want to waste time like this.
For purchase its somewhat around 4500 and for rental its 1550 .
The rent for 1 month is 200.
Will post about this more details after receiving it. :)

Hell with BSNL

Friends I am really fed up with the BSNL and its service. I was sorry to tell you that the device I got was not EVDO. It was NIC card. I was not aware that the NIC we cant browse web outside the district with the NIC . Before buying the device I have told him that i am going to use it from EKM. The person giving the card doesnt know know much about it. I dont blame him , he was old and told me dont know much about it . But the BSNL people should make and give good awareness to their staff. Today I surrendered it , dont got the money back. They will send me back the cheque after some delay. I asked about the EVDO. He told me its not available now. where can i go now for it?

Reached my home 2 days back. But not able to get online. I was having the BSNL broad band connection, and it was down for more than 2 days. I was calling 1957 the BSNL help desk of the broad band. Since it was sunday , none was there to attend the call. Though I am working in EKM , I kept this connection only to use when i reaches here. But now I think it was my false decision . I also have applied for the EVDO . Though the BSNL is boasting 2008 is the year for broad band. Not able to receive it after waiting for 2 months. You people in BSNL , please do understand that your food is from the customers. So do well to improve the service provided by you. You are getting many offers like free rental telephone etc. But the money is paid by we the customers. So don't cheat yourself and your firm. Try to improve it else one day you will be in a stage like the teachers in the government schools going here and there to count the heads of students when the school opens .

Independence Day

All Indians are celebrating the 62 th Independence day. I wish you all Indians a Happy Independence day. But I would like to comment on something .
Does India get the real Independence ?
I dont think so, our country is not free from the hands of corruption . If you are corrupted then you may have cheated India, not an individual , but your county itself. So you are not an Indian if you are corrupted. You are working for some other people who wish to make our country in the list of under developed country's.
So I would like all Indians to save India from corruption. Please do pledge that I will never cheat my country . Let this be your pledge in this 62nd celebration of Independence.

Things I learn from my experience

Hello dear friends,
I have learned some lessons from my train journey. Once I was travelling in train and and a person came near me and tried to sit besides me. The seating capacity was only 3 and it was already occupied. I asked him where he is going ? Told me going to Thalassery. :) So want to adjust him for 4 hours. So I told him sorry , I can't. After reaching I told my father about this. He asked me only one question ,"Do you pay any extra money for getting the seat like reserved or something?" and I was really sad about the incident. Have you heard about the story of Camel. Some people are like that. Thats the main problem giving room for them. I have faced a lot. But I want all of you who reads to say and think "INDIA" not the only "I" in it.
I just want you to say, lets unite .......
Dont go for a religion / caste / community /politics ... These are the real things that make you sit in black. Come there is another world other than this .
:) Dont know how many of you like my new post.
Another thing
The Government of India run by Congress, thinking of new technologies like Nuclear power and all, but I dont know what the hell they are doing in the state asking to take of the lesson of the 7th standard text book ?
What the hell is in it? I dont see any mistakes it.. My opinion is never take the lesson from it. Its all facts. Promote intercaste marriage and make India stronger with out going for a war between these type of crisis.

My New Dell Vostro 1510

Seeing my older post , some of my friends where asking me what happened , you have written some problems to your laptop. Nothing serious. Its working fine. Have taken the pictures of it from mobile only to show you.

Loaded with Ubuntu . Another thing I forgot to tell you that, after ordering my laptop I have ordered for a free Ubuntu disk. The laptop and the disk came on the same day. I was really wondering how it happened to reach on the same day. Thank you Ubuntu and Canonical for supporting the great open source Linux.

Recevied my DELL Laptop

Hi mydear friends,

I got my new DELL laptop on 30th July. It takes around 15 days to recevie my new DELL VOSTRO 1510 laptop . I was getting calls from DELL service centeres from 25th July onwards. The site shows it was shipped on that day. I looked the blue dart site for more details , for the product shipped out from factory. But I doesnt see any. I mailed to bluedart about this. They told me they dont have any such reference number as i gave. Told me to call DELL itself for more details. I was planning to call DELL on 30th, but before I make a call, the local courier calls me and I got my new DELL system.

Today a service person of Wipro came to my office . He asked me about any damage is there , all working fine , and all. I have the appointment at 5:30 in the evening. But he have some other work schedule. I told him that have some problem with my drive . He asked me to call DELL and inform about it. Gave me the TOLL free numbers and all.

If you are patient to get the system after 15 days , I recommend you to go for a DELL ..

I LOVE DELL ...
